Description
Garuda is a divine eagle and the vahana, or vehicle, of the Lord. When the Supreme Lord Narayana descends into the material world, He rides on Garuda. Garuda is considered an eternally-free soul, forever dedicated to serving the Lord in Vaikuntha. Garuda protects us from danger and helps us to reach the Lord safely and swiftly.
Hanuman is a great devotee of Lord Rama. His devotion is unparalleled and he is constantly immersed in chanting the name of Rama. Wherever the name and glories of Lord Rama are being chanted, Hanumanji is present.
Garuda and Hanuman are often depicted together, sitting at the feet of the Lord, with their full attention on Him and ready to serve Him always. They are prime examples of complete surrender to the Lord.
