Description
Worshipped in this form (when the right leg hangs over the left), Lord Ganesha gains us intelligence and knowledge (Jnana) over the emotions. Sitting on a lotus (Padma), he symbolises the highest form of the Divine (Paramatma tattva).
Lord Ganesha is the elephant-headed deity known as the granter of success and remover of obstacles. Because of this, he is praised at the beginning of every puja and yagna to ensure its success. The son of Shiva and Parvati, he represents the mind’s intelligence and wisdom.
Ganesha is the Lord of the mind. Unless that mind is tamed and controlled, you will never be able to really feel love. —Paramahamsa Sri Swami Vishwananda.
